Optimization runs in your browserCopy link
The route optimizer runs in the browser tab, on your computer. When you press Optimize, your orders, vehicles, and constraints are solved locally. The solve itself never runs on a server; the two server calls it depends on are listed below.
What reaches Routing24 serversCopy link
Two operations require a server request, and both go to Routing24's own services:
- Geocoding. When an address needs coordinates, the address text is sent to resolve it to a point on the map.
- Travel matrix. Before an optimization, the coordinates of your stops are sent to compute real driving distances and times between them.
Both requests are made under a token issued for your account, whether that account is registered or anonymous.
Where plans are storedCopy link
Plans auto-save to your account's data region, the region you can see when signing in.
- Signed in: plans belong to your account and open from any browser where you sign in.
- Anonymous: plans belong to a profile that exists only in that browser on that computer. The profile is not accessible from another browser or computer, including by you. Clearing browser data removes it. See Accounts, saving, and sharing.
Who can see a shared routeCopy link
Sharing is per route and off until you enable it. A shared route link opens only for the email addresses you put on its allow list, plus you. Remove all the emails in the Share route dialog and the link stops working. A share link exposes only the route it was created for; the rest of the plan is not included.
Use of your dataCopy link
Your data is used to geocode your addresses, compute your travel times, and store and load your work. It is not sold, and it is not used for any purpose beyond those operations. Exported workbooks are files on your computer, and are outside Routing24's control once saved.
